I don't know whether the people behind malls or shops at malls have ever researched about adding music to make a sale.
Music does not have any language but music has the capacity to give the information to other party about whats on your mind.
While shopping in one of the mall, i realised music can actually be used to increase sales of a brand. What kind of music should be used will depend on who is your target market, the positoning you want to create in the minds of the customer & who is the actual buyer.
Products related to teens, sports should play rock music. The fast music can make the customer lively and inturn increase sales making him buy more stuff which will make him suit the song.
Products related to gifting should play plain music with a bit of romance that will add value to the gift. Whether its perfume, bag, wallet or even a gift card.
Products where couples would go to shop would love to hear romantic music. Hearing romantic music would create a caring attitude towards each other & they may force each other to shop more.
